Seven measurements before you buy furniture

Most furniture returned because of size did fit its spot. What did not fit was the way there: the lift, the turn in the hallway, the door. Tick each item once measured; the list is saved in this browser.

1. Width of the gap at three heights; the smallest figure counts.
2. Depth from the skirting board, not from the wall.
3. Height on both sides of the gap.
4. Sockets, switches and radiators the furniture must not cover.
5. Opening of the furniture's doors and drawers, and of the room door.
6. The way to the gap: entrance, lift, stairs and hallway.
7. Package dimensions, usually longer than the assembled piece.
